This Vera Wang Leda gown is part of Vera Wang's "Iconic" collection. This dress is unbelievably feminine and elegant. The lace work is quite unique and the skirt is made of horsehair so it maintains a bit of shape as you move. Ethereal and light, wears like a dream!

I purchased this dress in October 2017, before my April 2018 wedding. It has only been worn once, after which it was immediately professionally cleaned and preserved. I am happy to send more photos in high resolution, just ask!

If possible, I recommend that you go to your nearby Vera Wang retailer and try on the Leda so you can really appreciate the dress for what it is.  The lace is so ornate and detailed, you just can't see that in these small photos.

From the Vera Wang website:

Strapless mermaid floating lace gown over web lace. In Leda, every element comes together to express an Old World sense of refinement and beauty. From its creamy French vanilla color to its intricate, delicate, all-over tulip and rose lace, Leda has an unmistakable heirloom quality.

As with all my dresses this season, the heart and soul of the gown is the lace. With Leda, I wanted to give the dress a very three-dimensional, textural look. I achieved this effect with a overlay of tulip and rose lace on top of web lace, which almost looks like a netting. The web network is actually quite intricate, like a burst of foamy bubbles layered on top of one another. It’s airy and light, so it’s the ideal backdrop for the bold, floral lace.

Throughout Leda, there are soft, curvy lines. A wispy tulle modesty piece on the bodice gives the illusion of something floating on the skin, while the gradual flair of the mermaid skirt curves and hugs the body into a classic hourglass shape. I love this type of modified mermaid silhouette, because there’s still that gorgeous structure on top, but with all the romanticism of a full skirt. The skirt is where the dress really comes to life, with a voluminous cage construction. Horsehair bands at the bottom of the skirt frame the outer shell of this cage like halos, allowing the fabric to bounce and trap the air and light, making the tulip and rose lace nearly luminescent. Leda is an incredible fusion of texture, volume, and movement.
