Fabulous Vintage Mid-Nineties Wedding Gown

Moonlight by Carole Hai

Beautiful lace and 100% dupioni silk wedding dress. Some of the photos make the fabric look shiny, but it is actually dupioni, a matte raw silk finish. Perfect for a fantasy fall or winter wedding! I purchased it new for a wedding that never happened (long story), so it has never actually been worn for an event, and never altered. I originally paid about $1300 for this dress. I was  told that a comparable new dress of this quality would be valued in the neighborhood of $1600! There are a few very small barely visible spots of discoloration (too small really to include in photographs). A couple of the button loops are broken just above the zipper, which can be easily mended. Obviously it needs the wrinkles ironed out, but otherwise the dress is in great condition!

The dress features what is called a chapel train and can be bustled with simple pins if needed or sewn into place. The bows in the back can be removed (see photos)

Details: label size is 8. Actual size probably a 4-6. I had/have a 34 inch bust and there is additional fabric included in the bodice of the dress along the seems to let it out quite a bit further; up to an inch on each side (see photo)

The dress as it is would be right for a 5’9” woman in stocking feet (so add your heel height to your own and do the math, or elect to get it hemmed).

I consulted a professional seamstress and she estimates alterations would run as follows:

$200 for hem (if needed)

$30 for bodice (bust/waist) alterations

$30 for bustle (optional)
